New Orleans continues it's legacy as a world class musical hot-bed, full of diverse styles and offerings. The New Orleans gospel music scene is no exception to that same rule. This is evident in our most recent Crescent City find, JESUS CHRIST & Company (commonly referred to as J C and Company) This family-oriented group of (8) guys from the neighborhood was formed in 1994 by Jerome Clark and Kelroy Price. Even though the group has only been around for about 4 years, they have worked with various local gospel factions for many years before forming J C & Company. Some of the better known local artists that they have worked with are; The New Orleans Spiritualettes, The Mighty Chariots, The Randolphs and of course, The well known Price Brothers. This young group collectively, has over 20 years of great southern gospel music under their collective belts. The group is rooted and grounded in the traditional gospel stylings that have become a trademark for former artists from this region; artists such as the Southern Travelers and the Great Mahalia Jackson. Their soulful gospel style reaches back and reminds you of times past, when gospel was gospel, and you didn't have to wonder about it. Jesus Christ & Company is lead by Jerome Clark. When they wail the high notes, you feel it! When onstage, they perform like a fine-tuned instrument, as they work their testimony into their heart-felt performances. Some of today's gospel artists walk a thin line with their music and their message, but not J.C. & Company. They leave nothing to the imagination. It is one hundred percent gospel all the time. The group just made their maiden journey into the European market in the latter part of 1998 and they were a big smash. They have been summoned back for several encore performances in the coming seasons. J C and Company has become a meaningful part of the New Orleans gospel culture as they perform at concerts all over. They are annually seen showcasing at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. They have also found themselves on stage with some of the most noted names in the gospel business, such as, The Gospel Keynotes, The Jackson Southernaires, The Christianaires, and many others. J C & Company released their first cd this past summer on the Rampart Street Music Label entitled "Stand Up" and it has been promising in reviews and sales. Come on y'all let's "Stand Up". Lucain Randolph, Melvin Russell Sr., Andre Randolph, Elroy Price, Kelroy Price, Jerome Clark, Lionel Goodman and Elliot Randolph Jr., are J C & Company.
